No joke content or speculationEdit

Hi Niser,

I hope you are doing well. I saw your edit on Adonalsium, which we did need to revert. Please do not put joke content on articles. Thank you.

Also, there were some older edits of yours we need to adjust or remove because you put speculation on pages or the content added did not align with the Coppermind style guidelines. In general, please do not put speculation on pages. You might find our guides in Help:Contents useful.

Thanks! -- Chaos2651 (talk) 03:25, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi Niser, there have been a couple of WoB's you've added recently that have needed to be adjusted as they do not fit with the Coppermind style guidelines - please note pages should be written in world and not reference Brandon directly. The referencing you are using also does not work on the wiki - for WoB's the syntax is {{wob ref|number}} (number=the number after the 'e' in the specific WoB URL). I recommend taking a look at our Style and Referencing Guides. Regards LadyLameness (talk) 04:17, 5 September 2020 (UTC)

Hi Niser, I wanted to request that for any wob references you add, please do not put a space between the end of the sentence and the reference (eg. Example sentence.{{wob ref|}} ). Also, if there are multiple references in a sentence, the reference should go after the punctuation instead of before it. I also wanted to remind you that speculation is rarely accepted on the Coppermind and these edits will, nine times out of ten, be removed. There have also been a number of edits from yourself that are written out of world (eg. Brandon said this....) - please write in world, as if you live in the cosmere. Temporary Account BlockEdit

Hi @User:Niser Resin, there seems to be a bit of a communication breakdown between yourself and the staff. We have made several requests here on your userpage regarding your edits and while you have adopted some of the feedback there are several things that we have not seen any acknowledgement of (either as a return message here or a change in editing behaviour). Because of this, we are putting a one week temporary block on your account in an effort to create a better communication channel between us and see if we can sort through these problems. The problems we have seen are listed above but here is a summary to make it easier to look through;

  • Speculation - it is rare that speculation is acceptable to add to the Coppermind. Please discuss anything you think is worth adding either on a talk page (this one here, the one for the specific page etc) or in the Coppermind Discord before adding conjecture to pages. It will be reverted.
  • Writing information in an out of world context - outside of Trivia and Development sections, information should be written in world - there should be no mentions of Brandon or of the real world books/eras/series etc.
  • Spaces before references - References should go directly after punctuation, whether it be a comma or period. There should not be a space put in between. We do not expect members to remember all the stylistic decisions that have been made for the site, but both staff and other members will give feedback on individual stylistic things to focus on so that newer members can build up their knowledge over time. Please take this feedback on board.

Eg. Example sentence.{{wob ref|}}

I also have to bring up one of your recent edit summary comments as it was rather rude and not in line with our Code of Conduct. The comment has subsequently been hidden (the actual edit is not hidden). While this temporary block was decided on before the summary comment in question, and was decided upon because of the above points and not this specific comment of yours, it is pertinent to note that rudeness is one the fastest way to get moderated. It is an expectation of those who use this site to be courteous to other members and to treat them with respect.

You should still be able to edit/respond here if you had any questions or queries, otherwise I recommend joining our Discord so you can speak with all staff/editors and/or so you can message me directly. If all else fails, you can message me on the 17thShard as well. Please reach out to us so that we can help smooth these issues over and work through any other concerns. Regards, LadyLameness (talk) 02:50, 2 October 2020 (UTC)

My apologies. I do not use these types of wikis often and repeatedly forgot to check this page for messages. I will keep this feedback in mind.
ThanksĀ :) The block should automatically end, but if it doesn't drop me a line and I'll take a look on the backend what's going on. Cheers, LadyLameness (talk) 01:25, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

Spoiler Policy ReminderEdit

Hey Niser! Just wanted to point you to a few resources about how we handle spoilers, since from the edit summary on one of your recent edits it seems like you might have some questions (though, since they contained pre-release spoilers, the edit summary and contents of that linked edit had to be redacted). Our full spoiler policy is available at Help:Spoilers, which also currently includes some special practical notes on how we're handling the secret projects, but the short version is that pre-release content is not allowed except on the page for the book in question (I'll use The Lost Metal as an example here, since the secret projects are a special case where the titles themselves are considered spoilers). Note that everything from the secret project livestreams is considered pre-release content under this rule; we may make the occasional exception for a few minor things, but those should always be asked about first. MediaWiki:Top-notice-ns-0, which should display for you at the top of every article, also has a brief reminder of this policy and MediaWiki:Editnotice-0, which should display for you whenever you edit an article, has a similar reminder as well as a note that if you're not sure whether or not something constitutes pre-release content you should hold off on adding it to the page for the moment and instead ask first.

I know this can seem like a bit much, but between how we accidentally spoiled some people on elements of Rhythm of War and Brandon's desire to allow people to go into these secret projects knowing basically nothing, we're trying to stay very on top of keeping pre-release content off of the Coppermind. If there's anything unclear about our policy in this area, please feel free to reach out at any time. Thanks and happy editing!
