Talnah is an engineer and artifabrian on Roshar.[2]
Appearance and Personality
She is short, and her hair reaches past her ears. She wears a glove on her safehand. She is intelligent and naturally curious.[2] She is friendly with her fellow scholars, including Nem and Rushu.[2][1]
Attributes and Abilities
Talnah is one of Navani's most versatile and trusted scholars. She worked as a jeweler before turning to optical lenses, and is an expert on a variety of subjects including polestones, lensmaking, weather readings, and astronomy.[2][1]
History
During the True Desolation, Talnah was a member of Navani's team of artifabrians and scholars in Urithiru. In 1175, she and Nem were tasked by Navani with studying the black sphere that Gavilar had given to Szeth.[2] At the time, anti-Voidlight was not well-understood; as Talnah and Mem experimented with the sphere, they inadvertently caused an explosion that destroyed their lab, killing them both. Navani knew that she could not have reasonably expected a sphere to explode, but she still blamed herself for their deaths. She asked Rushu to perform a detailed forensic analysis on the lab.[1]
