Captain Ico is a Lightspren, more commonly known as Reacher.[1]

Appearance

Ico has metallic bronze skin and looks human. He's shorter than an Alethi and sturdily built. He wears tan coloured human clothing which has many buttoned pockets.[1]

Personality

Ico is a spren of very few words, very brusk and speaks his mind. He's kind enough to give Kaladin, Shallan, Adolin, Sylphrena, Pattern, Vivenna and Mayalaran passage to Celebrant and is helpful in explaining some things to his human passengers such as the currency in shadesmar, how stormlight works in shadesmar[1] and deadeye spren.[2] He gets exasperated at times but he is understanding and practical. He believes humans cannot be trusted with Oaths and says as much, but grows embarrassed when he realizes that this was rude.

History

Ico is very old by human standards, old enough that his father died during the Recreance. He keeps his father locked in a room in his cargo hold so he doesn't wander overboard in search of the human who has his corpse.[2]

Captain Ico picks up the Radiants and their team from the lighthouse, giving them passage to Celebrant.[1] He refuses to take them to Cultivation's Perpendicularity because ships that travel there haven't returned lately. Before they part ways he tells the team that they should stay in Shadesmar as the Physical Realm is not a pleasant place at the moment. [2]

During the scheduled inspection of his ship in Celebrant, Captain Ico is questioned by one of the Fused. While it isn't known what has been said, the Fused carelessly sets Ico's ship on fire in anger, probably because he discovered Ico has given the Radiants passage.[3]
