A Grandbow or Shardbow was a large bow tall as a man and made of steel. It had a fabrial at the center that kept the bow supple. Even though the fabrial made the bow of steel more flexible only a man wearing a Shardplate could draw it. The arrows used with a grandbow were of steel, thick as a human forearm, and quite long.

Grandbows were first used during the chasmfiend hunt by Highprice Sadeas to attack the Chasmfiend.
