The Kholin family are the ruling family of the kingdom of Alethkar on Roshar. Kholin princedom is their ancestral home, and Kholinar their seat of power.[citation needed]

History

Gavilar and Dalinar Kholin lead a conquest against the other Highprinces of Alethkar, eventually consolidating the whole nation into a kingdom, using Kholinar as the base of their power.[expand][citation needed]

Gavilar took the crown, and married Navani, siring Elhokar and Jasnah. Dalinar sired Adolin and Renarin with Evi Kholin.

After Gavilar's assassination, Elhokar succeeded the throne.[1][2][3]

During the War of Reckoning, Navani attempted to court Dalinar, which culminated in them remarrying in Urithiru.[citation needed]

The siege of Kholinar claimed the life of Elhokar at the hands of Moash[4], but his child and heir Gavinor is rescued by Skar and Drehy.[5]

After the battle of Thaylen Field Dalinar asks Adolin to be king but then Jasnah is crowned queen of Alethkar.[5]

When Shallan Davar becomes Jasnah's ward, she convinces the Kholins to allow her to court Adolin.[citation needed] This eventually culminates in their marriage after the battle of Thaylen Field.[5]
