Little is known about Tag's appearance. He's most likely [[darkeyes|darkeyed]] (as he serves under darkeyed [[Tvlakv]]), and he has thick thumbsfingers.{{book ref|sa2|15}}{{book ref|sa2|17}}

Tag is a calm man with a clear lifetime of experience, and can keep a cool head even in most irritating or dangerous circumstances.{{book ref|sa1|4}}{{book ref|sa2|17}} He's cautious, preferring to avoid conflict when it's unnecessary, and is suspicious of any strangers.{{book ref|sa1|6}}{{book ref|sa2|15}} He does, however, obey his superiors without question,—even verbally or physically abusing slaves to assert his authority{{book ref|sa1|6}}—though he isn't afraid of voicing his opinions and concerns.{{book ref|sa1|4}}{{book ref|sa2|21}} In return, Tvlakv values what he has to say.{{book ref|sa1|4}}

Tag is an experienced mercenary. It's unclear where Tag iswas from, but untilhe recently,was he'snot neverfamiliar been inwith the [[Unclaimed Hills]] during his time as a mercenary. He goeswent there in {{Rosharan date|1173}} along with [[Bluth]] and [[Tvlakv]] as part of a caravan that's was carrying slaves -- —including [[Kaladin]] -- —to the [[Shattered Plains]].{{book ref|sa1|4}} FollowingAlthough theTag altercationwould withsometimes abuse Tvlakv's slaves, he was wary of [[Kaladin]]; following an altercation over thea destroyed map, heTag keepskept his distance from the slave.{{book ref|sa1|4}}{{book ref|sa2|6}}

Some time later, Tvlakv's caravan meetsmet up with [[Shallan Davar]], who hashad washed ashore after the sinking of the ''[[Wind's Pleasure]]'',. and heTvlakv allowsallowed her to travel with them to the warcamps. During that time, Tag drivesdrove one of the wagons -- either a slave wagon or the one with the [[Parshmenparshmen]], depending on the day.{{book ref|sa2|13}}{{book ref|sa2|17}} At one point, Tvlakv takestook himTag aside to disuss Shallan. Tag iswas suspicious of her, and advisesadvised his boss to availdivest himself of her as quickly as possible.
