Half-Shards were fabrials designed by the Vedens which were capable of stopping blows from Shardblades. They were diamond shaped shields made of metal with an altering fabrial on the back which enhanced the durability of the metal, many different gemstones in the fabrial have been observed and it is thought that any of the ten polestones will work. Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; refs with no name must have content They were created in imitation of shardplate and are the only objects other than plate known to be able to stop a Shardblade. They gave none of the other benefits of Shardplate and were quite bulky, hindering their users much more than Plate.
