Braize is a cold, barren, inhospitable world, perhaps outside of the sun's habitable zone.{{book ref|sa4|89}} However, while hostile to life, it is home to an ecosystem of self-aware [[spren]], as well as a number of [[Cognitive Shadow]]s, most likely the [[Fused]].{{au ref|Roshar}} The [[Shard]] [[Odium]] has made Braize its home, although his impact can be felt even on Roshar.{{wob ref|9847}} Only Odium's spren are welcome there; for those not aligned with him, visiting is both difficult and dangerous.{{wob ref|2577}}{{au ref|Roshar}}
