The Coppermind has spoilers for all of Brandon's published works, now including The Sunlit Man. A focus is a specific magic-related term in the cosmere, something which "focuses" a magic system.

Magic Systems and Their Focuses

  • AonDor's focus are Aons
  • The Metallic Arts' focus is metalCite error: Invalid <ref> tag; refs with no name must have content
  • The focus of Awakening are the CommandsCite error: Invalid <ref> tag; refs with no name must have content

It is not clear what focuses exist on Roshar for Surgebinding. It has been suggested that Stormlight itself is the focus there, though it could be the spren.
