Connection is an ability within the Cosmere that allows a closer relationship between two parties.

Metalic arts

In Feruchemy, Connection is stored in Duralumin. When connection is being stored it lessens other's trust in and awareness of the ferchemist, and when tapped the feruchemist can use it to form trusting relatioships quickly. It can also be used to communicate (see below).

It may be possible to be invisible to the life sense granted by biochromatic breath while storing connection. As of BoM, the terris are still expiramenting heavily with this power and do not speak of it to outsiders.

As far as we know, it cannot be accessed by Allomancy, but may be effected by Hemalurgy.

The Nature of Connection

Connection uses spiritwebs, and connects them in the spiritual realm. Connection is thought to be part of the spiritual aspect of a being, and has an influence on who can or cannot ascend as the holder of a certain shard.[1] Additionally, it is possible to alter connection through artificial means other than Feruchemy[2] (such as the device designed by the Ire), though the particulars of how this is accomplished are unknown.

Intent of Use

Connection can allow communication between two parties that would otherwise be difficult or impossible. Examples include people speaking a different language[3][4] or existing in different realms[5].

Medallions

Connection can be accessed by wearing unsealed metalminds. These medallions are worn by a person who is in a land that is not their own, and they are then able to speak the language of the place they are in. A person wearing their medallion in their own land will still speak their own language, not the language of the person they are communicating with. Occasionally, words do not translate fully.
