Walin is freed by [[Kelsier]] who was about to destroy the mines, just after managing to find an atium geode on his seventh day of the week, although at first he thinks that Kelsier wants to steal his geode, andafter being encouraged by Kelsier he leaves the Pits to sell it to secure his freedom.{{book ref|mb1|32}}
