}} [[Reen]] is Vin's half-~~sister~~brother. When [[Vin's mother\|their mother]] tries to kill Vin, it is Reen who rescues her. Reen raises Vin on the streets, and she accompanies him, learning how to be a thief. Reen is abusive towards her, often beating her and yelling at her. He drills into her the instinct to trust nobody, saying that anyone would betray her, including him. Eventually he does leave her, abandoning her to survive on the streets by herself.{{book ref\|mb1\|2}} Even though he betrays her, Vin later realizes that she still loves him.{{book ref\|mb1\|37}} At some point Reen gets captured by the [[Inquisitor]]s, and is interrogated about the whereabouts of Vin.
