Surgebinding is powered by [[Light]] as a fuel source. Which type of [[Light]] a Surgebinder can use depends on his person and other unknown factors. It can be taken from external stores, the Surgebinder's reserves or directly from an external source. It is theoretically possible to fuel Surgebinding with other forms of [[Investiture]], like [[BioChromatic Breath]].{{wob ref|3233}} The different types of Surgebinders are traditionally associated with different [[Light]]s. The [[Fused]] use [[Voidlight]], while Knights Radiant and wielders of [[HonorbladesHonorblade]]s use [[Stormlight]] it is unclear whether differences in the use of Surges observed in those groups arise from innate differences or use of different fuels. [[Lift]] is a special case of a [[Knight Radiant]] using [[Lifelight]].
