The Unmade are a group of ninesa3 ancient and twisted sprensa3 on Roshar comprised of Splinters of Odium.1672 They are minions of Odium, doing his bidding.sa3 While they are traditionally depicted as personifications of destruction or forces, some of them are cognizant individuals.sa1sa3 Each Unmade is endowed with vast and terrible powers,sa3 although the intelligence of the Unmade vary drastically. An Unmade may be captured in a polestone like other spren, but to do so seems to require both asomeone Bondsmithwho deeply understandssa3 them and a perfect gemstone.sa3

Yelig-nar is also known as Blightwind,sa1 and differs from typical Unmade in a few ways. Instead of having a specific physical appearance, he is capable of joining with people or singers who swallow a gemstone, granting them the ability to make use of all ten Surges.sa3 Those he possesses have red eyes, grow crystals from their bodies, and appear to be wreathed in a black wind.sa3sa3 It appears that those who join with Yelig-nar must control him if they do not wish to be consumed by him.sa3

Only one unmade is ever captured on screen, but the process for those not capable of higher thought is similar to that of Rosharan Spren’s capturing for use in Fabrialssa3. Nergaoul was captured by Dalinar in Oathbringer. He seems somewhat uniquely capable of this due to his past as a warmonger, and the extent to which he had given into and relied upon the thrill (Common name for the effect of Nergaoul) in his youth. His deep understanding of them allowed him to draw them close enough to capture in the King's Drop. In Shallan’s encounter with Re-Shephir it is noted that she had previously been captured into a perfect gemstone by a Lightweaver, indicating that the ability is not unique to the Bondsmiths nor to either of their surgessa3.
