Talk:Soulcasting

The Savant section says "Long-term use of Soulcasting, whether via Surgebinding or a fabrial, can lead to the user becoming a savant, transforming slowly into the essence they frequently transform other objects into."

However the citation doesn't really support this. WOB just said that the user's spirit is being infused with investiture. Furthermore the types of soulcasting savants we have seen have all closely matched descriptions of spren in Shadesmar (stone cracked and glowing within; vines; smoke), more than the essence the soulcaster is using. For example soulcasting grain causes the savant to grow vines.

I think it is more likely that the savants are becoming kind of a spren-human hybrid-- their spirit is smashed together with investiture matching a particular spren.

I can kind of understand what you are saying, but the WOB supports how it is currently written. A savant is someone changing due to investiture usage, which is what is happening here. To say for certain they are becoming a spren-human hybrid feels a bit too speculative. --MrMrDUCK (talk) 11:15, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
