When [[Elantris (city)|Elantris]] fell, the Derethi claimed that the [[Elantrian]]s had really been Svrakiss all along, using their evil powers to perform magic to make the weak-minded worship them.{{book ref|elantris|6}} This was not a belief shared by the [[Shu-Korath|Korathi]] priests.{{book ref|Elantris|17}} [[Hrathen]] and [[Dilaf]] used this excuse to attempt to turn the [[Arelish]] against the Elantrians,{{book ref|Elantris|18}} although Hrathen did not genuinely believe that they Elantrians were Svrakiss.{{book ref|Elantris|6}}
==Elantris Glossary Description==
(<i>Svordish</i>) A Svordish concept integrated into the Derethi Religion. The Svrakiss are beings forbidden entrance to heaven. They are forced to wander the world, preying on the living. They are half-ghost, half-demon, in the Derethi religion, and are often used to represent all that is evil.
