Jorgen and FM arrive on Detritus, and meet up with Rig. They go to Vice Admiral Stoff’s quarters, waking him up and explaining the situation to him. Stoff gives Jorgen almost full authority, allowing him to bring Wandering Leaf to Evershore to help, as well as several DDF flights. Jorgen recognizes that Stoff is giving him so much leeway so that he can avoid responsibility for Jorgen’s actions if things go wrong. Jorgen orders Rig to work on getting engineers to the outer platforms’ control center, and Jorgen expresses frustration with Stoff. Jorgen is doubting his ability to make improtsantimportant decisions, and FM reaffirms her faith in him. Jorgen’s resolve strengthens, and decides to commit their forces fully on Evershore.
