See also: Nightblood

While most Shardblades originate on Roshar and seem to be ultimately derived from the power of Honor and possibly Cultivation, this is not true of all Shardblades. The technical definition of a Shardblade is a heavily Invested weapon,4878 so Shardblades can be crafted with any manifestation of Investiture from any Shard, although some methods are far more difficult.4859 For instance, the sentient sword Nightblood, created by Vasher and Shashara of Nalthis using Awakening and Investiture derived from the Shard Endowment,wb is also considered a Shardblade.68925152 However, it is no ordinary Shardblade. While it cannot be summoned or take other forms like a spren can,sa2 it is in fact several orders of magnitude more powerful than the Shardblade of a Radiant.5617163 Nightblood is possibly even more powerful than the Honorblades. When struck against Ishar's Honorblade, that Blade was chipped.sa4 It is unknown whether a spren Shardblade struck by Nightblood would be destroyed or damaged. Unlike typical Shardblades, Nightblood feeds on Investiture--such as Breaths,wb Stormlight,sa3 and, ultimately, the bearer's soul--when it is drawn.5813 Nightblood is capable of consuming almost all types of Investiture.6616631
