Scooch served as a guard fox, but she was never called into action and spent most of her time napping and eating table scraps, eventually becoming fat and lazy.{{book ref|ws|prologue}}{{book ref|ws|2}} At some point in Kenton's youth, an a'keldar (sand wolf) wandered into the city and tore Scooch apart in an alley, where Kenton later found her corpse.{{book ref|ws|prologue}}
