Raoden was the only son of King Ioden and the crown prince of Arelon. For the majority of his life, he lived in the city of Kae, just outside of Elantris. Ten years after the Shaod, he underwent the transformation into an Elantrian, a transformation that was, at the time, incomplete. As an Elantrian, he brought peace and civilization to the people living in Elantris, who had devolved into a primitive, bestial society. He eventually discovered the key to restoring Elantris, and succeeded in repelling the efforts of Wyrn in conquering both Arelon and Teod.
