Olid brought news that [[Elend Venture]], kingemperor of the [[New Empire]], had captured [[Vetitan]] and obtained a new [[koloss]] army.{{book ref|mb3|14}} He had heard rumors that Elend sent a member of the Survivor's crew--which was [[Spook]]--to offer them a peace treaty. Olid advised Quellion to take it, as he did not believe that Urteau could defeat Elend and his armies.
