Lumar is a planet in the cosmere.15428tress

CultureMoons
It is surrounded by twelve coloured moons in a low, geostationary orbit, which deposit the aether spores which make up the spore seas.tress Each moon is inhabited by a core Aether.tress

Known moons include the Verdant Moon, Crimson Moon, Rose Moon, Zephyr Moon, and Midnight Moon, corresponding to the known Aethers.
The known geography of Lumar consist of generally small islands surrounded by seas of spores.

Seas
The seas are made up not of water, but of the immense deposits of aether spores from the moons, these can be traversed due to hydrothermal vents periodically liquidizing the spores during The Seethe. It also goes through periods of dormancy, where the seas solidify and hold ships in place. During these periods of dormancy, one can walk across it, though the length of dormancy is unpredictable, ranging from minutes to days.tress

Each sea is made up of spores of a different colour, due to being associated with a different core Aether. Known seas include the Rose Sea,tress Emerald Sea,tress Sapphire Sea,tress Crimson Sea,tress and Midnight Sea.tress Several of these are inhabited, with people and civilizations forming of the various islands splitting the spores. But not all seas are inhabited, with the Crimson and Midnight Seas, due to their dangerous nature, are uninhabited outside of a few notable exceptions.
The planet of Lumar has twelve seas, each being made from a separate type of spore. These spores each fall from their respective moons, and are each colored differently. The seas are therefore known by their colors. The seas mentioned in the book are the Emerald/Verdant sea, the Sapphire Sea, the Rose sea, the Crimson sea, and the Midnight sea, though all the seas are known by the inhabitants. Ships are able to sail on the seas because of the "Seething," which is the releasing of air from the bottom of the seas, causing fluidization. This makes the spores behave essentially as a liquid, allowing ships to sail on them. However, the Seething stops fairly frequently, causing ships to be temporarily stranded on what are now essentially sand dunes.

ReligionCrimson Sea
The Crimson Sea is made up of the spores of the Crimson Aether, and is known to be particularly dangerous not only due to the sharp stakes that form upon interaction with water, but also due to the unpredictability of the weather on the sea.tress It is due to this that the sea is almost completely uninhabited, and people fear crossing it.
