Special 2022-23 Secret Project Guidelines
* The existence of the secret projects Brandon announced on March 1, 2022 is not considered a spoiler and may be mentioned freely on appropriate Coppermind pages.
* Any details about the projects are considered pre-release information and should not be mentioned outside of the pages about the books and a few auxiliary pages (e.g., the File page for a secret project's book cover will note as such).
* Secret project book pages will be created under their actual titles, once those titles are revealed. We will set up spoiler redirects of the form "Secret Project X" to those pages and will endeavor to use those spoiler redirects anywhere else we refer to the secret projects on the Coppermind (e.g., the Bibliography page) and as a last check that you want to proceed before viewing a book's page.
* We cannot control search suggestions or search results for the Coppermind's own internal search. If the title of one of the secret projects starts with "Under" and you type "U" into the search bar, the title may appear as a search suggestion. And if you search for a word that appears somewhere on a secret project's book page, that page (its title and an excerpt of its content from around the matched search) will be included somewhere in the search results.
* Category pages like :Category: Books and some Special pages will include the titles of the books and some minor other details (e.g., if you find a book's entry on the list of pages by length, it will also tell you how long, in bytes, the page currently is).
* Secret project book pages will be de-indexed from Google's search results. Google has sometimes been tricky about this in the past; if you notice such a page in Google search results, please let us know and we will do our best to get it fixed quickly.
* A preset has been added to the Time Machine's drop-down menu to set it to before the secret projects were announced. Remember that the Time Machine has some limitations, which are discussed in the section below.
* The pop-up and site notice warnings now contain explicit reminders that per-release material is allowed in and only in certain areas.

The Time Machine
The Time Machine is a tool on the Coppermind to give readers options for how they want to handle spoilers that are present in the wiki. Originally created to help MediaWiki developers find documentation for old software versions, this extension allows you to enter a date and view the Coppermind as it was before that date. There is also a drop-down with dates for some book releases preset. To stop using the Time Machine, simply return to its page and click the "Back to the present" button. Be aware that the Time Machine does have some limitations:
* It only loads old versions of pages, so anything dynamic (e.g., search results, the contents of a category, or templates) will not be effected.
* If you are given a link to a page that did not exist by the date you have set your Time Machine to, there of course is not an appropriate old version of the page that the Time Machine can show you and so you will just be shown the current version.
* If you are given a link to a redirect, the Time Machine will not run after you have been sent through to the target of the redirect, and so you will be shown the current version of the page. Reloading the page after being redirected should trigger the Time Machine.
* If you are viewing an old version of a page (either through the Time Machine or otherwise), then clicking the "Edit" button on the page will load the edit window with the text of that old version. Editing therefore should generally not be done with the Time Machine active, as it will incidentally revert changes to the page after that old version.
