Before joining Kelsier's crew he had worked with Breeze, whom he shared an unusual relationship with; although Breeze enjoyed Ham's company he outwardly complained regarding Ham's habit of thinking situations through philosophically. His intellectual abilities were seen as very unusual for a man of his profession, according to Kelsier.
