Demid was once [[Venli]]'s mate, and after the two left mateform, he became her research partner. Agreeing with Venli's views, he helped persuade [[Eshonai]] to test out [[stormform]].{{book ref|sa2|i|1}}
After Eshonai's successful transformation, Demid created a system for changing others, making them enter the [[highstorm]] only after the initial stormwall had passed, as it was marginally safer.{{book ref|sa2|i|5}} He, too, took on the new form, although Eshonai noted that he seemed to be already familiar with it.{{book ref|sa2|i|13}}
Following the [[Battle of Narak]], Demid was part of the group [[Ulim]] led to search the chasms for corpses.
