After [[Jax]] had been at the Coop for a few years, [[Zeff]] had Brigand fight him in the practice ring, despite Brigand being five years older than Jax. Brigand was much better, and easily defeated Jax over and over. After two weeks Brigand received a field assignment and left the Coop.{{book ref|lux|9}}
