Like all other Seons, Ashe was a sentient, melon-sized ball of light. He had a deep voice, always perfectly enunciating his words.{{ref|b|eElantris|c|2}} He considered [[Teod]] his home,{{ref|b|eElantris|c|62}} though he spent the last several months with Sarene in [[Arelon]]. He had also apparently been in Arelon before, for a very short time long ago.{{ref|b|eElantris|c|2}}

Ashe played a key role in Sarene's efforts to thwart [[Hrathen]]'s takeover of Arelon. Among other things, Ashe deduced that [[Raoden]] was the one truly in charge of [[Elantris]],{{ref|b|eElantris|c|26}} saved Sarene from [[Iadon]]'s [[Jeskeri Mysteries|Jesker cultists]] by alerting [[Eondel]] of her whereabouts{{ref|b|eElantris|c|32}}, acted as courier between Sarene and [[Kiin]] while she was temporarily sequestered in [[Elantris]],{{ref|b|eElantris|c|44}} and gave Raoden the exact trajectory necessary for him to teleport to Teod and rescue Sarene from [[Dilaf]] and his [[Dakhor]] monks.{{ref|b|eElantris|c|62}}
