He was the son of a blacksmith.{{ref|b|mb1|e|16}} He rose to fame by uniting most of the world in the fashion predicted by the [[Terris]] prophecy of the [[Hero of Ages]], but was usurped at the last moment by [[Rashek]] who killed him and took the power of the [[Well of Ascension]] for himself.
