Its occupants, the Elantrians, were magical beings who healed quickly, had silvery shinning skin, and could use the magic of AonDor. Ten years ago, Elantris fell for some unknown reason. It's people lost their ability to perform magic, and instead of being silver-skinned gold-like beings, they became sickly-looking wretches. Modern Elantrians need not eat or breath—though they may do either if they wish. Any wound they incur will continue to hurt them until, eventually, their collected pains drives them insane.}}
