:The majority consensus in the chat was that "duke" is awkward as a page title with other characters who are dukes, and because the story merely uses it as a title rather than capitalized as a name. Naming characters by an important relation is the [[:Category:Unnamed_characters|usual convention for unnamed characters]], so that is the most natural option. We do actually have a whole [[:Category:Titled_characters|"titled characters" category]] for those that you mentioned, but (1) I believe this is a convention we have been shifting away from (There are a lot of characters with no first name and a title who are NOT using this convention.) and most importantly (2) nearly all of them at least have some kind of unique name. We wouldn't title an article for an unnamed character simply "lord" or "lady" unless there were no better options. Why not duke?

The reason for the move makes exceedingly little sense. He routinely is referred to as the duke throughout the novel. In fact I don't think the text every actually gives him the title of 'Charlie's father' once throughout the novel. He is only ever referred to as the duke. Unlike Wayne's mother there is no textual basis for the move.
