Voidspren are spren that, instead of being connected to either [[Honor]] or [[Cultivation]], are under [[Odium]]'s control. They are similar to other types of spren in many ways, such as their ability to bond with things in the [[Physical Realm]] and their various shapes and habits. However, these spren fight on the opposite side of the [[Desolations]], aiding Odium's goal to destroy the [[Rosharan]]s and ultimately earn his freedom from [[Braize]]. Once they were entrapped by the [[Oathpact]], the voidspren would torture the [[Heralds]] present in an attempt to get them to bend the bars of [[Damnation]] and release them back to Roshar.▼

==Bonding==
Like the other types of bonding spren, voidsprenVoidspren can only bond to certain individuals during certain times. For many voidsprenVoidspren, the [[Everstorm]] is needed for the bonding process, likely because of its output of voidlight[[Voidlight]]. The lesser spren that create [[RegalsRegal]]s can bond during highstorms, likely because the Regals can't invest the [[voidlight]]Voidlight. The bonding process in the previous Desolations is unknown since this is the first Desolation when Odium summoned the Everstorm. {{cite}}
 
Some Voidspren, like [[Ulim]], are able to bond with a singer without changing their form, residing in their gemheart while leaving the other spren there.{{book ref|sa4|73}} The Voidspren can leave and return from their gemheart at will, without the need for a highstorm.{{book ref|sa4|74}}{{book ref|sa4|77}} This will still influence the singer's emotions, though the influence will leave if the Voidspren exits their gemheart.{{book ref|sa4|74}} While inside their gemheart, the Voidspren can communicate directly with the singer though their mind and even hear their thoughts.{{book ref|sa4|73}}

There are many varieties of voidspren, and each type, similar to the other bonding spren, serves a different purpose. Some of them can form bonds, and some haven't revealed if they can or not.▼

In order to put themselves at the height of humans on parshmen, they stand on a similarly colored pillar that rises from the ground. When they walk, another pillar will meet any moving foot, keeping them even. These voidspren are seen guiding the multiple bands of newly made [[Voidbringers]] to settlements, cities and, in the case of Kaladin's group, to [[Kholinar]]. The screamers can also sense when a [[Lashing]] is used, but not when a [[lightweaving]] is created. [[Pattern]] explains that he and [[Shallan]] are quieter than [[Syl]] and [[Kaladin]]. The screamers may be able to sense the output of stormlight, meaning that illusions aren't detectable because they burn through much less [[Investiture]] than a [[Lashing]].▼

[[Thunderclasts]] are giant stone monstrosities that are shaped like skeletons with angular, [[chasmfiend]]-like heads. Their voidspren are huge spren, roughly the size of buildings. They are "souls so warped, so mangled, they didn't seem singer at all,". To bond, they take the stone in the ground as their form, inhabiting it like a body. Then they literally rip themselves from the ground. It is unknown why these huge voidspren don't need a gemheart to inhabit.

In previous Desolations, Odium hadn't learned to bond humans. But, while humankind was progressing on Roshar, Odium's knowledge was progressing on Braize. Somehow, Odium found out what was needed for voidspren to bond with man. First enveloping them in the [[Thrill]], he made Sadeas's soldiers in the Battle of Thaylen Field so willing to fight that they gladly excepted the voidspren that Odium then sent into their minds. These voidspren do not offer any surges, and, as far as was shown, only turns one to Odium's side of the conflict.
 
Overall, secretspren can detect Adhesion, Gravitation, and Cohesion,{{book ref|sa4|11}} but cannot detect Illumination, Transportation (at least when it is used only to look into Shadesmar),{{book ref|sa4|11}} or a [[Shardblade]] being summoned.{{book ref|sa3|69}}
These spren look barely humanoid but twisted and warped. Shallan compares them to drawing she'd done in a maddened state, as they didn't look like people, but more like the scribbled outlines of one.
 
===Fused Stormspren ===
This type of spren can bond with [[singer]]s during a [[highstorm]] or the Everstorm, granting them [[Regal]] power of stormform. The stormspren appear as rolling lightning that moves across surfaces. Among the [[listener]]s, they are described as looking smoky,{{book ref|sa2|i|4}} as well as giving off a "strange red light" and splinters of lightning.{{book ref|sa2|i|5}} Despite a similarity in appearance, they are not of the same species as the spren [[Ulim]], who can in addition take on a human appearance.{{book ref|sa3|i|3}}
What these voidspren look like is unknown, since the spren resides in their gemhearts. When bonding, the voidspren kills the previous mindset of the body and controls it themselves. These spren, as shown multiple time, do offer surges. Because there are nine orders of Fused, it is likely that there are nine different types of voidspren that create Fused.
 
Stormspren can be found naturally prior to the arrival of the Everstorm. Hundreds of stormspren will appear at where its lightning strikes the ground, and will linger a short while before disappearing.{{book ref|sa4|88}} Their color implies that they are normal spren who have been corrupted. They were not originally of [[Honor]], however.{{wob ref|8733}}
===Regals===
These are lesser voidspren who are capable of bonding during a [[Highstorm]], instead of the Everstorm. Two of their forms have been found so far; [[Stormform]] and [[Envoyform]]. Voidspren who create Stormform can take the form of either rolling lightning that moves across surfaces or a human shape with odd eyes. The shape of a voidspren which grants Envoyform is unknown, as the only singer in Envoyform is [[Venli]], and her voidspren is held captive inside her own gemheart by [[Timbre]].
