By the time that Alendi journeyed to the Well, Kwaan had gone into hiding to protect himself from Alendi's retribution. In his anger Rashek attempted to destroy Kwaan for his insolence, but as he held the power of [[Preservation]] he was unable to do so and Kwaan remained a human.
