Tyn’s team was assigned to kill [[Jasnah]] while on the ship to the Shattered Planes. Due to Shallan’s burning of the ship, they didn’t survive and never came back for her. {{book ref|sa2|28}} Tyn had found herself without spheres and came to [[Macob]]’s caravan to find a safe way into the Shattered Planes. She exaggerated her experience and became the head of the guards for the caravan. {{book ref|sa2|24}} During their travel, they were assaulted by bandits. It was [[Shallan]]´s “soldiers” who assisted them and avoided total loss. In return, Shallan asked for their company on their way back to the [[Shattered Planes]]. {{book ref|sa2|21}}
It was during this time that she took [[Shallan Davar]] as a con artist apprentice.{{book ref|sa2|24}}
Through all the trip to the Shattered Planes, Tyn showedtaught Shallan many different things. From accents, to passing for lower class people and foreigners. {{book ref|sa2|28}} It was her “teaching” that caused Shallan’s first encounter with [[Kaladin]] to go so bad as she tried to bully him pretending to be a Horneater royal. {{book ref|sa2|28}}
She is also responsible for Shallan not to move into the Kholin house to avoid being much in his debt and to play “difficult to get” with Adolin. {{book ref|sa2|36}}

When they were almost at their destiny Tyn invited Shallan to read the spanreed information together. There not only did she provide information on her homeland, but confessed her intent of selling Shallans deserters as bounty. Moreover, they wrote about Tyn’s last job, not only did they confirm they were hired to kill Jasnah, but gave Tyn information on Shallan as the ward. Tyn understood she had been fooled and moved to kill Shallan. Though she did manage to hit her hard, Shallan summoned her blade and killed her {{book ref|sa2|34}}
She was also the one who tried to assassinate [[Jasnah Kholin]] on behalf of the Ghostbloods. When she found out that Shallan was Jasnah's ward, she also tried to kill Shallan, but Shallan fought back and summoned her [[Shardblade|Blade]] and killed Tyn.{{book ref|sa2|34}}
Pattern went Shallans deserters seeking for help, asking them to go fetch her. When Tyns soldiers resisted, they killed them.{{book ref|sa2|34}}

After Tyns death, Shallan took over the spanreed communication and agreed a meeting with the Ghostbloods. {{book ref|sa2|34}} With Tyn’s old spanreed letters, Pattern was able to crack the code to continue the communication with them. She also continued her con art and created Veil inspired on her. {{book ref|sa2|42}}

Tyn doen’tdoesn’t have any magical abilities nor has any particular strength. She is resourceful and a good con artist.{{book ref|sa2|24}} “The art of the con”, in Tyn’s words is “The grand act of pretending to be someone you aren’t, then running off with the goods.” . {{book ref|sa2|24}}
She is also resourceful as her spanreed and being part of the Ghostbloods gives her important information like Shallan’s background, and the news on Jah Keved. {{book ref|sa2|31}}
