The book opens with the Reckoners assaulting the [[Knighthawk_Foundry |Knighthawk Foundry]] in West Virginia in an attempt to get equipment. After the events of [[Babilar]], [[Tia]] is missing and David is now in charge. The group has been cut off from Epic-derived technology due to the [[Jonathan_Phaedrus |Professor]], who now hunts them. The team attempting to infiltrate the Knighthawk castle consists of [[Megan_Tarash |Megan]], [[Cody]], [[Missouri_Williams |Mizzy]], and [[Abraham]], who consider this their last ditch effort before going completely into hiding. The castle is well defended, with a few surprises their informant didn’t know of. As the chapter closes, David decides he has moments to take action, and enters the complex himself while the team fights.
