In ''[[Mistborn: The Final Empire]]'', he has ruled over [[The Final Empire]] for a thousand years. He is viewed as a tyrant by the [[Skaa]]. He is also believed to be immortal. At the end of the first book this is proven false as he is killed by [[Vin]].
