'''Nlan''' is a [[Thaylen]] sailor and the cook aboard the Wandersail.{{book ref|sa3.5|4}} He is stated to have accepted [[Rushu]]'s offer to stay ashore during the expedition to [[Aimia]]. He is replaced by [[Cord]] during the expedition who comes aboard with [[Lopen]], [[Huio]], and [[Rushu]].
Later, it is shown that [[Nikli]] planned to step in as ship's cook in order to poison the crew and prevent them from reaching [[Aimia]]. It is possible that Nikli was preemptively involved in Nlan's absence to create the vacancy but was thwarted by Cord's arrival.
