Mirris is Vathi's only Aviar and the two are bonded; Vathi is surprised to learn that a human can bond multiple Aviar.{{wob ref|11628}}{{book ref|sixth}} Like Kokerlii, Mirris's Aviar "talent" is the the ability to conceal mental activity in her immediate vicinity.{{book ref|sixth}} This ability allows Vathi to evade the many predators on Patji that hunt by sensing thoughts.{{book ref|sixth}} It is likely that Mirris would also be able to conceal the use of some forms of [[Investiture]].{{wob ref|9437}} Her wings are not clipped.{{book ref|sixth}}
==History==
Vathi worksworked for the [[Northern Interests Trading Company]] and bringsbrought Mirris with her on an expedition to Patji.{{book ref|sixth}} The two joinjoined a scout team searching for a site to place a fortress, but despite Mirris's presence, a [[deepwalker]] destroysdestroyed the rest of the team. Vathi subsequently decidesdecided that she must find a [[trapper]] to have any chance of survival and she and Mirris headheaded into the jungle. Mirris iswas injured when she and Vathi fallfell after a "monster" attacksattacked them; Vathi endsended up caught in a [[jellywire]] net. Dusk findsfound them and iswas pleased to note that Vathi knowsknew how to apply some first aid to Mirris. However, Dusk believesbelieved that Mirris's wing iswas broken and bringsbrought the pair back to his safecamp, where he cleanscleaned Mirris's wound, wrapswrapped her wings to prevent flight, and placesplaced her with his other Aviar to calm her down. Because of her injury, Mirris remainsremained in the safecamp when Dusk and Vathi leaveleft in order to investigate the Company's activities.{{book ref|sixth}}
