In 1151, Makh was set to fight in a featured freeform bout in a [[firemoss]] den when his opponent cancelled due to illness. Makh was enraged, arguing with the [[lighteyes|lighteyed]] organizers about the cancellation, whenuntil Dalinar Kholin suddenly challenged him to a fight. Makh was stunned and quickly refused the request, due to his fear that Dalinar would permanently injure him. Dalinar was surprised, and [[Bashin]] and [[Havar]] told him that he had recently maimed multiple people in a tavern fight, although he did not remember doing so.{{book ref|sa3|49}}
