It is likely that he had a strong sense of morality at some point, both as leader of men and of the [[Herald]]s, as seen manifest in his shame in leaving behind [[Taln|his old friend]] to suffer.{{book ref|sa1|prelude}}

In the past Jezrien had been a king. He may or may not have been married but had at least one child, [[Shalash]].{{qa ref|1034|26|s Shalash Jezrien's daughter?|date=Sep 24th, 2013}} 99 [[Desolation]]s after the beginning of the [[Oathpact]]{{book ref|sa1|45}} he, along with the other [[herald]]s save for [[Talenel]], who had died, decided that they could no longer withstand the torture they faced in between [[desolation]]s and thus decided to abandon their pledge. He was chosen by the rest to wait and see if [[Kalak]] had survived and if so, to let him know they would not return to their place of punishment. He then summoned his [[honorblade]] and left it stuck point-first into the ground, before taking off by himself.{{book ref|sa1|prelude}}

It is unknown how Jezrien had spent the 4,500 years between the prelude and the events taking place during the Stormlight Archive. However, [[Nale]] does mention that he is still alive.{{book ref|sa2|I|9}}
