Though Iyatil now lives on Roshar, it is not her home planet; she is of Southern Scadrian heritage{{wob ref|4879}}, and she personally is from [[Silverlight]].{{wob ref|190}} Iyatil was not born on Scadrial.{{wob ref|12046}}

 

Iyatil is descended from the Southern Scadrians. Considering the way that she refers to hunters and has passed the hunting ideology and mindset onto [[Mraize]], it is likely that her heritage specifically belongs to the clan known as the [[Southern Scadrian#The Hunters | Hunters]]{{book ref|mb6|22}} within that society. Additionally, the description of how her mask grew into her skin, as described in ''[[Words of Radiance]]'', matches the description of how Hunters wear their masks in ''[[The Bands of Mourning]]''.
