So, you're wanting to edit the wiki, but have no idea how to go about it? This guide will give you the basics on how to edit an article in the ways best suited to collaborative editing.
First off we suggest you take a look at your user page and play around with different wiki syntaxes. To edit a page click the Edit tab along the top of the page. We suggest you use the preview button to see the effects of your syntax without submitting your changes.
If you're desperate to get what you're thinking about down, go to the page you think most appropriate and just type it up without any markup. Then someone can come along and insert links, references and generally neaten it up. You can always check out the most popular syntax on already marked-up articles to learn. Though of course this guide will go into detail about how to use them properly.
To break up text into paragraphs put a blank line between them.
To make text bold or italicised you surround the phrase with 's, thre for bold, two for italics, and five will do both.
To make a link to a page, for example the article on Vin, you surround the page's title with double square brackets, like so: [[Vin]].
To change the text of the link, insert a pipe character after the page title: [[Vin|Valette]] → Valette.
To make a general hyperlink to a url of your choice, use single square brackets: [http://example.com an example] → an example.
Unnamed links will be numbered sequentially: [http://google.com] → [1].
To make use of one of the many Templates on the wiki, you use curly brackets instead of square ones. See the help article for more.
