It was the home of [[Kaladin]]'s family.{{book ref|twok|10}} Until approximately 1165 Brightlord [[Wistiow]] was Hearthstone's citylord.{{book ref|sa1|16}} After he died the new citylord, [[Roshone]], was sent from Kholinar to Hearthstone. He came to the town with his son [[Rillir]] who was to be married with Wistiow's daughter [[Laral]] for the purpose of an alliance between Roshone and a good house.{{book ref|sa1|37}} Roshone and his son went on a [[whitespine]] hunt were both of them were wounded badly. Eventually Brightlord [[Amaram]]'s army came to Hearthstone (approximately 1167). Amaram showed up with Roshone and Laral (wearing a bride's prayer on her arm what indicated that she would have to marry Roshone). He came for the recruitment of new soldiers.
