Hanavanar wasis a rather clever man, smart enough to realize that he could be a potential target for Szeth, after three of the Veden highprinces were murdered. He wasis also wily enough to keep his [[Shardblade]] a secret, although some rumors managed to get out. However, he severely underestimatedunderestimates Szeth's abilities, arrogantly assuming that he, two [[Shardbearer]]s, and guards wielding [[half-shard]]s would be enough to defeat Szeth. He also grewgrows frustrated easily, swearing at his men when they failed to kill Szeth quickly. Hanavanar also didseems not to value the lives of his guestssubjects and peers above his own,; he setsets a trap for an assassin known for committed massacres during a dinner party.
