Gaz is a sergeant responsible for the bridgemen at the Sadeas warcamp. He takes new recruits and fills in the different bridge teams. He is also responsible for making sure they due their duties and that they actually go on their bridge-runs when needed. {{book ref|sa1|6}}
For some reason he has to pay back debts to [[Lamaril]], and the rates are so high that he can only manage to repay [[Lamaril]] by using the bribes that [[Kaladin]] gave him.{{book ref|sa1|30}} He is among the more antagonistic towards [[Kaladin]], often taking special delight in attempting to kill off [[Bridge Four]]. He does, however, accept Kaladin's bribes so that Kaladin can stay in control of Bridge Four.
