Gaz has a beard, but his face is scarred so it only grows in patches.He is described as being very short for an Alethi man. He has a single brown eye and does not wear an eyepatch over his missing eye.{{book ref|sa1|6}} This changes at one point after his desertion, when Shallan meets him he is described as wearing an eyepatch.
