Some cannonballs makemade use of aetheric internal mechanism in order to increase their usefulness in naval combat on the Aether seas.{{book ref|tress|37}}

In the center of the cannonball iswas a sphere made out of roseite aether containing water, itwhich iswas insulated from the water with wax, and therefore doesdid not react with it. This sphere iswas surrounded by a charge of zephyr spores.{{book ref|tress|37}}

In another part of the device iswas a small glass container of water adjacent to a clipping of verdant aether. This glass container shattersshattered upon launch, soaking the clipping, andthus causing it to expand down a short tube leading to the central mechanism. This pushespushed a silver-tipped plug towards saidthe mechanismroseite sphere, and killskilled the roseite, leading to the waterrelease itof the contained towater, bewhich released, reactingreacted with the zephyr and causingcaused a large explosion dousing the target with water and shrapnel.{{book ref|tress|37}}
