Difference between revisions of "Trell (Trellism)"

Followers of Trellism appear to trace the religion's roots to [[Trelagism]] as it is described in the [[Words of Founding]].{{book ref|mb4|11}} The extent to which these religions are related is unclear, as the two religions share no apparent similarities beyond the name of their god.{{wob ref|3183}} Adherents of Trellism believe in a deity named named Trell, whom they consider to be their creator in some capacity.{{book ref|mb4|11}}{{book ref|mb4|15}} At least some among them appear to believe in an apocalyptic prophecy which claims that "men of gold and red, bearers of the final metal" will arrive and rule over the people of [[Elendel]], and perhaps all of Scadrial.{{book ref|mb4|epilogue}}

Despite the religion's mention in the Words of Founding, the it is relatively unknown among the general population of northern Scadrial.{{book ref|mb6|3}} [[Marasi Colms]] had a difficult time researching the religion, with few people willing to speak openly about their knowledge.{{book ref|mb6|epilogue}} Several members of the Set, in both high and low positions, are followers of Trellism, and the organization itself may exist for the purpose of serving Trell.{{book ref|mb6|29}}{{book ref|mb6|epilogue}} Presumed followers of Trellism have been seen both swearing by{{book ref|mb6|15}} and giving thanks to{{book ref|mb6|29}} Trell.

Cultivation has exhibited few signsigns of interest in affairs beyond [[Roshar]] and it seems unlikely that she was responsible for the metal. There was also a [[Dayside]]r man named [[Trell (Taldain)|Trell]] on [[Taldain]],{{book ref|ws2|6}} which strengthens the tie to Autonomy; some have speculated that Autonomy transformed the man Trell into the entity now present on Scadrial, or that Trell is a common name among Daysiders. The fact that Taldain is a tidally locked planet{{au ref|Taldain}} and that the original Scadrian religion involving Trell, [[Trelagism]], focused on the difference between day and night{{book ref|mb1|9}} may suggest the original religion had roots in Taldain; some have suggested that the man Trell had some influence on the original religion and that Autonomy later co-opted this religion for her own purposes, as she has been known to be worshiped in several religions.{{wob ref|3974}} The metal trellium allowed Paalm to operate free from Harmony's influence,{{wob ref|6300}} a property that seems to align well with Autonomy's intent.
