Elend Venture is an idealistic young noble and later, a Mistborn from the Final Empire on Scadrial. Alongside Vin and the remnants of Kelsier's crew, he forms the New Empire and helps to save tothe world from its destruction at Ruin's hands by uniting as many people as possible, using Seers to burn the vast atium cache known as the Trust, and allowing Marsh to kill him during the Battle of Hathsin, giving Vin the drive to kill Ruin.

Appearance and Personality
"His suit wasn't the finest she had seen, nor was his vest as bright as most. Both coat and shirt seemed to fit too loosely, and his hair was just a bit disheveled." mb1 Elend's early life was spent rebelling against his father and the court in quiet ways. Fashion called for tight-fitting suits and neat grooming, so Elend contrived to look slightly sloppy. An idealist and dreamer who wanted to study and debate philosophy and law in preparation for his ascension to his House's title, with the idea of being able to get the Houses to band together and apply some pressure on the Lord Ruler to change some things. When Kelsier's crew overthrows the Lord Ruler, Elend realizes a long-foreseen successful skaa rebellion has arrived, and takes steps to curtail the violence, showing a surprising amount of bravery. He tried to put his ideals into law, but his own slightly lackadaisical manner worked against him. With some guidance and advice, Elend sharpened up his appearance and refined his mannerism to be more regal, putting forth an image as respectable as his character actually was.

After becoming the Emperor, Elend went from being an idealist to realizing that sometimes harsh measures and force are required to save someone who doesn't know better. He felt guilty at the erosion of his ideals, and felt sometimes to be a hypocrite in his moments of self-doubt, but he trusted himself to pick the best course in the crisis they were in.

History
He was the only legitimate son of Straff Venture, and heir to House Venture. When he was a child, he was beaten to near death to determine whether he was an Allomancer or not. His father made him sleep with a skaa woman in a brothel to make him a "real man."mb1 He was later horrified to learn that the woman would be executed to prevent half-breed childrenmb1. Throughout his childhood, he was known for disobeying his father purposely to get a response out of him. This included ignoring guests at parties, and disobeying his father's orders. Elend was predominately a scholar and was well versed in many areas including politics and history. He is extremely idealistic and meets with a group of other idealistic nobles after balls to discuss contraband philosophy.

The House War
The Well of Ascension
While searching for the Well of Ascension beneath Kredik Shaw, Elend is attacked by the mist spirit in an attempt to get Vin to use the power from the Well to save him, but she chooses to release the power, inadvertently releasing Ruin in the processmb2. Following this, the mist spirit directs Vin to the last remaining bead of lerasium at the Well, and she uses it to save his life, transforming him into a Mistborn and allowing him to burn pewtermb2.

The Siege of Fadrex City
Elend and Vin decide to take their armies and besiege Fadrex City in the hopes of gaining the contents of their atium storesmb3. They take many koloss soldiers whose control they had previously wretchedwrenched from several Inquisitors. While in Fadrex, He and Vin attended balls thrown by the proposed king, Aradan Yomenmb3. Late in the siege, he and Vin lose control of their koloss, leading to the koloss wreaking havoc on their soldiers, before running off into the nightmb3. After this happens, Yomen allows Elend into Fadrex and seems to seek his help due to the disappearance of the mists, but Elend leaves Fadrex shortly after these events transpire, taking with him some atium Yomen gives him mb3.

The Battle of Hathsin
Elend eventually realises the meaning of the pattern of the mist-sickness which snaps allomancers, and also discovers the Seers in his army were those who were sick the longest. He uses this knowledge to lead the Seers in battle against the koloss armies under Ruin's control, depleting all of the Atium stored in the kandra Trust. He fuels the last of his Atium with duralumin, seeing the ultimate outcome of his actions. With the knowledge gained from this, he allows Marsh to kill him, giving Vin the drive to attack Ruin directlymb3, resulting in both of their deaths and Sazed's Final Ascensionmb3.

Attributes and Abilities
Despite being born to a noble house, Elend was not born with any allomancy. When he was a child, his father Straff had him beaten with the purposed of causing him to snap, but he was unable to demonstrate any powers. After nearly dying from the mist spirit's knife wound while releasing Ruin from the Well of Ascension, Elend burns a lerasium bead, and develops Allomantic powers that have not been weakened by interbreeding. As a result of the purity of his allomancy, his Mistborn abilities are incredibly powerful.
In addition to his allomantic abilities, Elend is incredibly intelligent, and while studying under Tindwyl becomes very charismatic as well.expand

Trivia
