Dalinar convinced Sadeas to team up for a joint plateau assault. After spotting a chrysalis on the Tower Plateau Sadeas and Dalinar agreed that Sadeas' forces led into the battle and Dalinar followed with a few lent bridges from Sadeas, because Dalinar refused to use bridgemen on the initial assault, and with his own chull-drawn bridges he would have been too slow.{{ref|b|twok|c|64}} Once there, Sadeas and Dalinar's armies attacked the Parshendi from different adjacent plateaus.{{ref|b|twok|c|65}}

Sadeas then abandoned Dalinar, pulling his army out of the battle.{{ref|b|twok|c|65}}{{ref|b|twok|c|66}} Dalinar was beaten by [[Eshonai]], the Parshendi [[Shardbearer]].{{ref|b|twok|c|68}} [[Kaladin]] and [[Bridge Four]] stayed behind Sadeas' army for their own reasons but then decided to help Dalinar and his surviving men retreat.{{ref|b|twok|c|67}} Kaladin incapacitated the Parshendi Shardbearer, giving Dalinar the opportunity to retreat too.{{ref|b|twok|c|68}}
