He leaves her to handle the public-facing duties of the monarchy alone and repeatedly tells her she is worthless, and is very dismissive of her passions and her intelligence.{{book ref|sa4|prologue}}
Due to how openly abusive he was towards her, Navani saw the darker side of his character. On the day of his assassination, he pushed her over the edge and caused her to burn a glyphward asking for the Almighty to kill him.
